Garlic & Thyme Breadsticks

If you love garlic bread as much as I do you will love this recipe! For all of you out there who have been afraid to make bread from scratch or maybe just thought it was too much work well breaking news! This recipe is so easy and so much fun!

The line-up for these addicting little guys is simple:
2 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
1 package Active dry yeast
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 1/4 cups warm water
1 tablespoon cup Olive oil
1 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon Thyme
1 clove Garlic
A little extra Olive oil

In a bowl pour 1 1/2 cups of flour, the yeast, sugar and salt.
Pour in the warm water and olive oil.
Beat all ingredients with a mixer for a few minutes and add 1/2 cupParmesan cheese, garlic, thyme and the rest of the flour until the mixture becomes a stiff dough.

Lay out a dusting of flour and knead the dough then divide the dough into fourths.

Take a ball of dough and slice into  about 10 strips. Roll each strip till it's about 7 or 8 inches.

I only used 2 of the dough balls and put the other 2 in separate freezer bags and put them in the freezer. They can be kept fresh in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil and sprinkle with the rest of the Parmesan cheese.

Cover the baking sheet with a warm wet towel and place in 85 degree oven for 50 minutes.
Uncover and turn the oven up to 400 degrees and bake for 12 minutes or until golden and the Parmesan cheese it toasty and brownish.

I had these with spaghetti and meatballs tonight. They are the perfect thing for sopping up all the run away marinara sauce.

What is better with spaghetti than these?!
